Mikalene Thomas: Better Nights at the Bass Museum of Art

Mickalene Thomas’ Better Nights is an immersive art experience at the Bass Museum of Art. This was another exhibition I was lucky enough to visit on the day of the opening.

Inspired by a polaroid of her mother from the 1980s, this exhibition feels like time travel from the 1970s/80s through to modernity or the future.

The wooden paneling on the walls, as well as music makes this an immersive art experience
Fabulous wallpaper, fabulous photograph
This mirrored event space feels like the future

Each room with its artwork gives a specific feel: nostalgic, textured, and rich with meaning. The number of artists shown as part of this show, the diversity of the works and the various spaces and media make this a remarkable exhibition.
